Ravangla at a glance

Ravangla is located on the ridge separating the Teesta valley from the Rangit valley Ravangla is South Sikkim’s latest tourist attraction. Obviously the prime attraction of Ravangla is the unobstructed views of the snow peaks. Ravangla offers breath taking views of Kanchanjungha along with its sister peaks of Pandim, Kabru, Sinialchu and many others. Ravangla is located at the foot of Maenam hill, housing a small hermitage.
Ravangla is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South Sikkim and located on a ridge between Maenam and Tendong Hill, Ravangla offers unmatched views of the Greater Himalayas. The beauty of its landscape and its location as a transit point to nearby destinations has made Ravangla a must-visit place. Ravangla stages the Pang Lhabsol festival in a grand manner every year around August-September. The festivities last for three days, culminating in the traditional dances known as ‘Chaam’ on the last day.

Air

The closest airport is at Bagdogra (about 120 km from Ravangla and a seven hour drive) and is connected by air with all the Metros in the country.
Rail

New Jalpaiguri (NJP) is the nearest rail head and is also about 120 kms from Ravangla. NJP is also connected with all the major cities of the country with most of trains heading for the north-eastern states making a stop at this junction.
Road

Car services can be availed from Siliguri, Pelling & Gangtok to Ravangla. However, it is more convenient to travel in smaller vehicles which are available on seat sharing basis/hire, from near the Bus terminus, airport and railway station.

Rayong Sunrise View Point

At a distance of 8 km from Ravangla on the road to Damthang is the viewpoint that offers spectacular view of the sunrise, as the first few rays sun lightens up the snowy peaks of Mt. Narsing, Jopuno, Kabur, Rathong and Pandim.
Temi Tea Garden

At a distance of only 16 km from Ravangla, it is one of the most beautifully located tea garden of Sikkim. The journey through the winding road via Dentham is even more attractive. A 9 km trek from Dentham through the Tendon sanctuary goes to a dormant volcano, an unforgettable place to view Kanchenjunga and Singalila range in the west and vast plane lands in the south. Even Pelling in West Sikkim and Siliguri town is visible from the view point of Tendong.
Ralang Hot Spring

It is situated at a distance of 26 kms from Ravangla. The monastery on the way holds the famous kagiang festival in December.
Ralang Monasteries

13 km from Ravangla are the two monasteries at Ralang which follow the Kagyupa sect of Buddhism. The Old monastery was built in 1768 AD and legend has it that the 9th Karmapa, head of the Kagyupa sect, blessed the site of the monastery with grains of rice thrown from Tibet. 'Pang Lhabsol' the worship of Mt. Khangchendzonga & 'Kagyed' Chaam (masked dances) is held in the monastery every year.
Borong

Borong is a popular village situated near Ravangla, facing the snow-capped mountains. This village is reached through the Maenam trek and is most popularly known for its hot springs of 'Borong Tsachu'. The trek route along this region starts from Namchi or Damthang and ends at Tendong. This trek is further carried till Tashidang, or is terminated at this very point.
The hot springs of Borong facilitate traditional winter spas in the area. These springs being sulphurous, are said to contain medicinal properties that are capable of curing many skin problems and other ailments associated with joints, bones and muscles.
Buddha Park

The Buddha Park of Ravangla is situated near Rabong. It is home to a Buddhist circuit and a statue of Lord Buddha. The statue of Lord Buddha was established there, in the year of 2006, on the occasion of the 2550th birth anniversary of Gautama Buddha. This statue was built and installed in the place through the joint efforts of the Sikkim government and its people. The Buddhist circuit of this park was built here under the project, for boosting pilgrimage and tourism in the place.
Samdruptse

located 7 kilometer away from Namchi, South Sikkim. Where 135 feet tall statue of Guru Padmasambhava or "Guru Rimpoche in Bhutia" has been installed. In Bhutia vocabulary, Samdruptse means wish fulfilling hill. The hilltop offers a view of Namchi Town, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Mt. Kanchandzonga and eastern part of Nepal.
The statue of Guru Padmasambhava is the double the size of the famous Bronze Buddha statue at Kamakura, Japan. On 21 Oct 2007, his Holiness the Dalai Lama visited Sandruptse hill to lay the foundation stone of the project, his holiness then offered prayers to Guru Rimpoche and offered prayers for the prosperity of the state.
Architects, engineers and hundreds of labors took three years to perfect this statue. The statue at Sandurptse was designed according to traditional Buddhist ideals and moulded as per the measurement and other details as explained in Thekcha created by the famous Vajrayana teacher Je Mephan Rimpoche.
Char Dham

A miniature replica of the Indian Char Dhams located in our Country i.e. Jagannath Dham in East, Dwarika Dham in West, Badrinath Dham in North and Rameshwaram in South. It also has a 108 ft. statue of Lord Shiva enclosed by the 12 'Lingas', a temple of Shirdi Sai Baba and an effigy of Lord Kirateshwara. It gives a feeling of complete mental peace & satisfaction.
